Want Your Medications On Time And At Lower Prices? Try Prescription Delivery

Posted on

If you have a medical condition that requires daily medications, you are probably always looking for ways to save money on your prescriptions. You must consider the cost of going to pick them up at the pharmacy. Sometimes, even medications you have automatic refills for can be out of stock, and you may be out of a medication for a day or two. To save money, and make sure that you always have the drugs you need, have your prescriptions sent directly to your home.

This way, you can shop around for the best price, and save money and time by not having to drive or find transportation to pick them up.

Your Local Pharmacy

If you have found that your local pharmacy offers the best price on some or all of your medications, you can register to have them sent directly to your home. They will contact your physician to get all the medication information, and you will provide the address for delivery. This is especially handy if you are going to be out of town and need to have your prescriptions shipped to a different address.

You can set up a vacation address with the pharmacy ahead of time. You need to tell them when to start sending it there, and when you will be back home.

Your Insurance Carrier

Many insurance carriers now offer home delivery of prescriptions. You can check with your carrier to find out if they have a lower price than your local pharmacy for your routine medications. When asking, be sure to get the price for a 90-day supply.

This will often come with an additional price cut because they can save on the shipping costs. Getting a 90-day supply is not always possible with your pharmacy; the insurance company has to approve it first.

Online Pharmacies

When you go online to check the prices of your prescriptions, be sure to look at online pharmacies too. These companies often offer lower prices because they do not have a lot of overhead. However, it is important to make sure that the company is accredited by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) and is on their Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites (VIPPS).

Do not order prescription medications from a website that does not require a prescription. Once you are sure the pharmacy is accredited, you can have your medications shipped anywhere you like.

Of course, there may be a time when a prescription delivery is delayed. You may have to contact your physician to have a refill order put in place in time to receive your medications on time. In most cases, this can be done over the phone or online.

Some pharmacies will contact the physician for you when it is time to prepare your next shipment. This makes getting your prescription delivery completely hassle free. All you have to do is go to the mailbox, or answer the door to sign for controlled substances.
