Posted on

If you have a loved one in a short-term rehabilitation facility, like The Village, you know how hard the rehabilitation process can be. There isn't time to worry about personal hygiene beyond baths and teeth brushing. If you want to do something kind for your loved one, plan a day of pampering for them. They won't even have to leave the rehabilitation center. These simple ides will let you pamper your loved one with all natural ingredients.

Invigorating Facial Scrub

This invigorating facial scrub will have your loved one relaxing, while you pamper their skin. You only need a few ingredients.

Supplies You'll Need

  • ¾ cup sea salt

  • ½ cup almond or jojoba oil

  • 6 drops lavender essential oil

  • Small plastic container with lid

Directions

  1. Place the sea salt in your plastic container.

  2. Pour the oil directly over the sea salt and allow it to soak in.

  3. Add your lavender essential oil.

  4. Wet the face with warm water.

  5. Take a small scoop of the sea salt into your hands.

  6. Gently massage the sea salt into moistened skin.

  7. Rinse well with warm water.

  8. Pat dry.

Foot Baths

Why not pamper your loved one with a relaxing foot bath? Circulation can slow down during rehabilitation, especially when recovering from a long-term illness or injury. This foot bath will improve the circulation in your loved one's feet.

Supplies You'll Need

  • Large plastic wash basin

  • 1 cup of Epsom salt

  • 3 drops of eucalyptus essential oils

  • 1 ½ gallons of warm water

  • 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil

  • Soft towel

Directions

  1. Fill your basin with warm water.

  2. Add 1 cup of Epsom salt and 3 drops of eucalyptus essential oil.

  3. Stir gently to dissolve the Epsom salt.

  4. Place feet in basin and let them soak for about 15 minutes.

  5. Gently massage the feet for several minutes to remove dead skin and improve circulation.

  6. Pat your loved one's feet dry and massage them with jojoba oil.

Body Massage

Skin can dry out quickly when it's indoors all the time. The lack of moisture can cause skin to flake. Once it starts flaking, it can get quite uncomfortable, especially if you're confined to a bed or chair. This natural body lotion will moisturize your loved one's skin and stop the flaking.

Supplies You'll Need

  • ¾ cup almond oil

  • ¾ cup petroleum jelly

  • ½ cup distilled water

  • 3 drops of vitamin E oil

  • 10 drops of lavender or rosemary essential oil

  • Microwave safe dish

  • Plastic container with lid

Directions

  1. Place almond oil and petroleum jelly in a microwave safe dish.

  2. Place dish in microwave and heat on medium for about 35 seconds.

  3. Remove dish from microwave and mix well with a wooden spoon.

  4. Add distilled water and mix until fluffy.

  5. Add vitamin E and lavender or rosemary oil.

  6. Mix well.

  7. Spoon mixture into a plastic container with lid.

  8. Use cream as an allover body cream.

Being in a short term rehabilitation center can be stressful. Give your loved one a day of pampering with these all natural products.
