Tired Of Drooping Eyebrows? A Forehead Lift Might Be the Solution

Posted on

If you're bothered by sagging skin on your forehead, cosmetic surgery may be the solution. A forehead lift helps smooth out furrows across your forehead and between your eyebrows. It also lifts your eyebrows, so your eyes appear more youthful. A forehead lift is a fairly common procedure that offers immediate results. Here's what you can expect.

Preparation

While a forehead lift is a simple operation, it is still surgery, so you must prepare for it in advance. You should stop smoking and adjust any medications and supplements you're taking according to your plastic surgeon's advice. The surgery will be done under anesthesia of some sort, so you won't experience any discomfort. Your surgeon may advise a general anesthetic, or you might have a local anesthetic and sedation through an IV.

The Procedure

The surgeon makes an incision along the top of your forehead, so the skin can be lifted. Depending on the shape of your face and the placement of your hairline, it's possible the incision will be in the area of your hair and therefore well concealed. Once your skin is lifted, it is sutured into place. You will probably have a bandage around your head and you may even have a drain attached that collects fluid and blood as you heal.

Your Recovery

You're likely to go home the same day of the procedure after you've spent some time in the recovery room. The surgery will be done in a hospital or outpatient surgery center. Therefore, if complications arise, you will be kept overnight or longer if needed. Before you go home, you'll be instructed on how to care for your incision and drain. Plus you'll learn how to change your bandage and watch for signs of infection.

It will take several days for the incision to heal and for swelling to go down. It will probably take several weeks for you to recover completely. However, you'll see results right away, and if the incision is in your hair, it will not be visible once the drain, stitches, and bandages are removed. If the incision is below the hairline, you'll be able to conceal it under makeup until it disappears.

A forehead lift can make you look younger, happier, and more well-rested because it removes worry lines and perks up your eyes. It can be done alone if your main concern is with your drooping forehead, but it can also be done along with other types of cosmetic surgery such as a facelift and eyelid tuck. It's a good solution when other treatments can't tighten your skin enough to erase deep furrows and lift your eyebrows.
